Upcoming events, 2 Learn to rides in May and CCC ride June 18th.

Reminder for upcoming events.

May 21st (Sunday) Novice Learn to Ride in Johnson VT:   Novice Learn to Ride (space limited).  We have 6-8 members signed up and space for about 4 more.  This event is geared towards novice riders looking to transition to dirt and build there off-road skills. It’s meant to be very un-intimidating and mainly for the ladies with Motorcycle licenses and road-legal off-road bikes; however is open to anyone looking to build off-road skills.  We will spend 2-3 hours in back of the Landmark Tavern in Johnson then venture up the road a bit to a nearby Class IV road to further work on off-road skills.  If you’re interested please contact Ruthanne at secretary@cccofvt.org.

May 27th (Saturday) Beginner & Trials Learn to Ride in Westford VT:  Joint  Learn To Ride with the Green Mountain Plonkers Trials club.  The CCC side of this event is geared for the kids and beginners.  Scott Morse has graciously offered up his property which consists of a large open field, kids motocross track and a woods road.  There is also plenty of content for the Trials enthusiast.  This is always a fun-filled event with BBQ and lots of picnicking and bench-racing for the adults.  Since space out in the field is limited and we want to keep it safe we ask big kids (adults) to either help with their kids or try out Trials.  The GMP members have offered up a variety of trials bikes to try out so if you haven’t ever ridden a trials bike or seen it first hand this is a great venue to stick a toe in water so to speak.  For more information check the event calendar, as always helmet, over the ankle boots required.  This is an AMA event for insurance purposes so a legal guardian must be present with their child and waiver forms are required to sign at the event.  Please R.S.V.P with Ruthanne at secretary@cccofvt.org.  Also a side dish is encouraged, the CCC will be providing burgers and hotdogs and water.

June 18th (Sunday) in Johnson VT:   This will be our 1st CCC Dualsport and Big Bike ride for 2017.  Wayne Longe will be Trail Boss for the little bikes and Rich Reynolds will be Trail Boss for the big bikes.  The loops are similar with more difficult terrain for the smaller bikes.  Road Legal “Quiet” off-road bikes required, knobbies strongly recommended.

Reminder to please be sensitive to our environment and stay off sensitive trails a bit longer until things firm up. This week the state of VT has restricted hiking to under 2500′ elevation and a variety of VASA ATV clubs have postponed opening their trails due to run-off of the snowpack at higher elevation and very rainy spring.   Trails should start drying out this week so we ask to keep this in mind if/when venturing out.  As always seek permission accessing any private land and unless otherwise stated all our CCC rides take place on Vermont Class IV roads which are owned by the towns so while they are on public land and typically have a hard base towns are financially responsible for their upkeep and maintenance.
